The workshop was attended by more than 40 experts from the Rosatoms closed cities like Snezhinsk, Ozersk, Seversk, Zheleznogorsk, Sarov and the closed nuclear centres of CIS countries, and the specialists working in the energy efficiency industry and banking business. Alexander Krupin, Director of Seversk BDA and Sergey Kosyakov, Manager of Centre of Comprehensive Energy Saving Technologies, also attended the workshop.
The participants got together to share their experience of successful implementation of the energy efficiency projects and advise those who are just thinking about entering the energy efficiency market.
And now briefly about the participants and their presentations.
David Vincent, the First Secretary of British Embassy for Science, Ecology and Nuclear Safety in Moscow , expressed his opinion about energy efficiency as a good perspective to create new jobs for former nuclear specialists.
Vladimir Sterekhov, ROSATOM Coordinator of CNCP Programme, talked about the problems of energy consumption in Russia .
Partick Gray, Head of the Moscow office of HTSPT Ltd., told about the CNCP targets, priorities and funds.
Mark Allington, AEA Technology, discussed energy saving services like energy audit, design of energy efficient buildings and houses, implementation of comprehensive energy saving measures etc.
Mike Birks , CNCP Coordinator of energy saving projects, gave a review of the projects being supported by the CNCP . Totally, there are 9 companies in Russia and CIS countries offering energy efficiency services. The total number of expected jobs is 229. These initiatives have attracted the funding of 185 mln rbl including 74 mln rbl from CNCP .
P. Teremetsky, EBRD Manager of the Programme for energy saving business development and climate change, presented the EBRD initiative to increase its investment into sustainable power engineering industry of up to ˆ1,5 bln in
Y. Gorbatenko, Deputy Head of the Programme to stimulate investments into energy efficiency, International Finance Corporation (IFC). The market evaluations proved that companies underestimate the potential of energy efficiency improvement. Only each third company takes a consistent approach in reaching the efficiency of energy use. Among these companies only 24% applied for finance and 89% of them succeeded in raising the finance.
A. Kosyakov, Head of Centre of Comprehensive Energy Saving Technologies in Seversk, told about the development of the Centre and what steps had been taken to start the business activity. He told about the regulations for energy audit certification and showed the prerequisites for repeating ESCO experience in the region of Tomsk .
At the workshop some other companies gave their presentations and demonstrated how the new mechanisms can be applied and energy efficiency service provided. Among them are Enemona Company (Bulgaria), DiagEn Company of Snezhinsk and ESCO of Zheleznogorsk.
